AULI....a well known ski destination in INDIA for tourist. Its is situated in Northen Himalayan range of UTTARAKHAND.It is appx 10km from JOSHIMATH(chamoli district,Uttarakhand).There are two ways to reach AULI from JOSHIMATH market. One by Road and another by Ropway(Gondola). One can travell by road from the junction point of Badrinth Higway & Tapovan -Niti Raod.The famous one is Ropway as it is 2nd longest ropway of ASIA after Gondola of GULMARG(J & K) in 2003.
A beautiful site view of surrounding mountains and Joshimath market and nearby villages can be seen from top throgh this longest Ropway.The journey by this Gondola is full of exciting and thrill.The whole journey is of about appx. 20 minutes along the ropway lenth of about 4.15kms with 10 Towers.This journey charges appx Rs.900 per person.Chair car facility is also available here which charges Rs. 500 to 600 appx.
Auli is also well known as AULI BUGYAL(meadow) in local language.This place is about at a height of 2500(8200ft)meters to 3000(10,000ft) meters from sea level.
The nearby villages surrounding the Auli are PARSARI(attached to eastern side of Auli),Merag,Badagaon,Tapovan,Rini & last one Niti towards eastern front.Auli is also surrounds by mounatins namely Neelkanth Parvat(near Shri Badrinaath Dham),Hathi Parvat(Elephant Mountain) on Northern side and Trishul Parvat,Draunagiri Parvat &Nanda Devi Parvat on Eastern side.
There is a temple of a Hindu God HANUMAN in Auli where Hanuman took the rest while flying from Shrilanka to Draunagiri Parvat for collecting the Sanjivani Booti(PANACEA HERBS) for Lord Rama's Brother Shri Lakshman for life restoring,according to Hindu mythology.
There is also a worlds highest artificial lake attched to Cliff Top point of Auli.
